To the general topic Russia and Christianity and Sense of Russian History:

Christianity which is not at all of this world was tried as a cover-up for a political state in this world, the result of which "unworldly holes" piercing this world all through into abyss of emptiness. One of such terrible "holes" is the whole of Russian history
That is why people in the West sometimes "terrified" of it as something "irrational" and awesome if not to say awful But it really is. There is a parable of Christ in the Bible of attaching a new patchwork to old clothing No one puts a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; for the patch pulls away from the garment, and a worse tear results
There are also other parables, explaining all things in this History so much "to the point", that  I can't help writing the following:

Russian History
as explained
by the Parables of Christ
in the Bible

Parable N1:
Everyone who hears these words of Mine, and acts upon them, may be compared to a wise man, who built his house upon the rock. And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and burst against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded upon the rock. And everyone who hears these words of Mine, and does not act upon them, will be like a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand. And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and burst against that house; and it fell, and great was its fall

(Gospel according to Matthew 7:24)

So, what is that: "to hear and not to act upon"? In original Greek, it's simply "do them" ("poiein"; word "poet" and "poetry", by the way, come from this root; while there is such Russian saying: Poet in Russia is more than a poet), as in original Hebrew "Word" and "Deed" are one word ("DAVR"), so  such contradiction between Word and Deed is not even what was pertaining initially: neither to Word nor to Deed, but  obviously came later, as a  "Sign of last times"!

So  what is that: "Word separated from deed" which people are anxious to  "Listen and not act upon"?

Obviously, it's MYTH; in translation from Greek "myth" means "Fairy-tale", "Saga", "Story", just  "Flow of words" (in Russian "Skazanie") which is "by its own" and doesn't require correspondence to the Reality, any realization in deeds!

Such kind of mythology is a basis of any pagan religion. It is clearly not to transform the reality; maybe it's to safeguard its current status ("Status quo", as they call it in Latin).

While  Christianity clearly calls to transform; all of its words are of Reality, about Reality (witness), and for transfiguration of the Reality! (Literally commandments!)

But  We are born to make fairy-tail a Reality were namely the words of a Bolshevik song (even a hymn called "Aviators' March", the melody of which, by the way, was stolen from a Nazi hymn with constant cryings: "Heil Hitler!"), while  Christianity namely was used in the era before  to safeguard current status of things ("Status quo"), as I've said above of pagan religion, and even  namely on place of such religion!

And this is a right place to ask:
What religion at all is used for?

You may be surprised, but religion usually lies that it is "of the Heavenly"; no, it is OF THE EARTHLY! It is to safeguard that self-same earthly "status of things", while  "some mythology of the Heavenly" is only used, so to say, for "dialectical anchor": something opposite to the earthly, of other nature to it. For the earthly itself can't hold itself in one's limits, it runs to the different sides, expands, and even explodes sometimes; in the nature of matter to scatter, disperse, dissipate, unles it is united (and  bound!) by certain idea
